ShipCelero automatically submits the tracking number back to Etsy once the package is confirmed as dropped off with the carrier. Etsy then marks the order as dispatched and notifies the buyer with a tracking link.
When does tracking sync happen?
Tracking is submitted to Etsy when the carrier confirms that the package has been physically received (drop-off scan), not immediately when the label is created. This ensures Etsy and your buyer are notified with accurate dispatch timing.
For PostNord shipments, the drop-off scan is detected automatically by ShipCelero's tracking poller, which checks for updates every few hours.
What Etsy receives
- Tracking number
- Carrier name
- Dispatch date (the date the package was dropped off)
- Shipping service used
- Package dimensions and weight (if available)
If tracking sync fails
Occasionally the Etsy API may be temporarily unavailable. If the tracking submission fails, the order on the Etsy Orders page shows Etsy update failed along with the error message from Etsy.
- 1Go to Etsy Orders
- 2Find the order showing Etsy update failed
- 3Click Retry to resend the tracking information to Etsy
Manually sending tracking
You can also use the Retry button to manually trigger the tracking submission at any time after a label has been created — for example if you need to notify Etsy sooner than the automatic drop-off detection.
